The two most important things about these cloths are that they replace the need for a plastic based sponge or cloth and when they are at the end of their useful lives they are fully compostable.  After about 8 weeks, there is zero waste remaining.  You have the benefit of finding and using an attractive useful sponge cloth, without adding to the world's plastic problem.

How To Care for Your Eco Sponge Cloth

You may be wondering how to care for these fully compostable sponge cloths?  Here, we talk through the best ways to maximise the life span of your cloths with these care tips to help you to keep your sponge cloth fresh.

With the right care each cloth can last for six months or longer in your kitchen.  Then they can always be repurposed to another use like cleaning outdoor furniture or wiping down windows and doors.

They are super easy to use - here are 6 tips to care for your cloths!

Tip 1: Rinse Regularly

You can use your sponge cloth for various tasks from wiping countertops to washing up. After each use, rinses it out under warm water to remove any debris or soap residue.  Like any cloth, place it over your tap or kitchen drainer when not in use.

Tip 2: Deep Clean

If your cloth becomes grubby, pop it in the top of your dishwasher or in your washing machine with other tea towels or dish cloths.  Use a mild detergent and avoid bleach-based products.

Tip 3: Disinfecting

If you like to disinfect your cloths, you can soak these lovely cloths in a mixture of 3 parts water to 1 part vinegar for a few hours.  Give it a good rinse afterwards for best results and your cloth will be beautifully fresh.  If you don't like the smell of vinegar then lemon juice works well too!

Tip 4: Drying

After washing, let your cloth dry naturally by hanging it over your tap, on the edge of your sink or in your dish drainer.  Lie it flat to dry.

Tip 5: Life Span

Your sponge cloth can have a lifespan of six to 12 months or more.  Even when it starts to look a bit frayed, don’t despair, it can be used for other tasks around the home, from cleaning outdoor furniture to polishing bicycles!  Keep the cloth in action as long as possible, with the confidence of knowing that it can be recycled at the end of its useful life.

Tip 6: Composting

These wonderful sponge cloths can be composted or placed in paper recycling.  To compost, simply cut into strips and pop into your compost bin.  In just a few weeks, the cloth breaks down completely, leaving absolutely zero waste behind!

We love these cloths because they are:

  • sustainable, biodegradable and safe to compost
  • vegan and cruelty-free
  • plastic free, long lasting and practical
  • eco packaged with a low impact recyclable paper band
  • printed in Cornwall using water based ink
  • 70% cellulose/30% cotton fibre cloth is made in Europe.

These versatile sponges offer a sustainable and economical solution for housekeeping and cleaning. They reduce your single-use plastic consumption and help create a more eco-friendly home.
