These simple devices play a significant role in maintaining a cosy interior, especially during the chilly months. But not all draught excluders are created equal! Duck Egg Blue, Natural and Rust Coloured Linen Draught Excluders being held up by a door

As part of developing our new range of draught excluders we looked at lots of other products to come up with our own range. We're so happy to share our thinking with you, to help you to reduce draughts in your home this winter.

We Choose 100% Linen for Our Removable Cover

1. Natural Insulation

We are big fans of linen which is derived from the flax plant and is known for its natural insulating properties. Linen fibres create a barrier that effectively blocks cold air from infiltrating your home, helping to maintain a consistent and comfortable indoor temperature. By using a linen draught excluder, you can reduce the need for additional heating, ultimately saving energy and lowering your utility bills.

2. Eco-Friendly Material

Linen is an eco-friendly fabric. Flax, the plant linen comes from, is resilient and requires minimal water and pesticides to grow. It's a sustainable choice which will help to reduce your environmental footprint. Linen draught excluders are not only effective but also encourage eco-conscious living which is central to our ethos at Helen Round.

3. Durable Fabric

Linen is a very durable, long lasting, hard wearing fabric.  Being moved around the floor as the door is opened or closed or positioned along a window requires a tough fabric. For us linen was a good choice combining good aesthetics with durability.

4. Washable Covers

One of the standout advantages of our linen draught excluders is the washable linen cover. Over time, draught excluders can accumulate dust and dirt, especially in high-traffic areas. Being able to remove and wash the cover keeps your draught excluder fresh, clean, and hygienic. It also extends the lifespan of the product, making it a more sustainable choice. Our covers can be machine washed at 30°C.

5. Versatile Style

Linen's natural texture and earthy hues add a touch of timeless elegance to any room. Whether your home is decorated in a modern, minimalist, or rustic style, a linen draught excluder complements your interior decor seamlessly. It's not just functional; it's also a stylish addition to your home.  Our draught excluders are available in a range of colours and designs for you to choose from.

 Eco-Conscious Stuffing Material

We decided to fill our draught excluders with fabric off cuts from the studio. This offers several benefits:
  • Reduced Waste: by repurposing fabric scraps from our studio, we are continuing to follow sustainable production practices.
  • Eco-Friendly: choosing fabric off cuts for filling is an eco-conscious choice as it minimises the demand for new materials and reduces the environmental footprint associated with producing our draught excluders.
  • Soft and Comfortable: our fabric off cuts are made from soft and comfortable materials, providing a plumped up and cosy feel to your draught excluder.
  • Good Insulation: by bringing together lots of fabric off cuts in a long sausage shape to fill the cotton inner, the draught excluder will provide effective insulation against cold draughts.
  • Contributes to Circular Economy: using fabric off cuts in draught excluders aligns with the our principles of a circular economy, where materials are reused and repurposed to make best use of our resource consumption.

    Custom Made/Bespoke

As part of our research it became clear that doors and windows vary significantly in shape and size, particularly in older houses, so we are very happy to custom make draught excluders to order.  Please feel free to contact us at sales@helenround.co.uk to find out more!
