Wheat Bag Safety Instructions

Our wheat bags have undergone significant safety testing.
We recommend you follow these instructions when using your wheat bag and please read the safety considerations carefully.

Instructions For Heating And Cooling Your Wheat Bag

  • Microwave Heat for 1-2 mins
  • Freezer Cool for 1+ hour
  • Electric oven 10-15mins 125°
  • Do not overheat
  • Check temperature - hold against wrist for 10 seconds prior to use

Safety Considerations 

Do's

  • When heating the wheat bag in a microwave place a cup of water on the turntable next to the wheat bag
  • Only use the wheat bag heat pack for direct application to the body
  • Watch for overuse - an over cooked odour, a smell of burning, smocking or charing
  • Leave to cool in a safe place on a non combustable surface, like a kitchen sink or draining board
  • Always use a timer when heating in a conventional electric oven
  • Ensure your microwave turntable turns freely when heating the bag
  • For oven heating place the wheat bag in a clean over proof container. Do not cover

Dont's

  • Do not use your wheat bag as a bed warmer
  • Do not use a gas oven to hear your wheat bag
  • Do not over heat (recommended maximum is 3 minutes in a microwave)
  • Do not reheat the bag until it has completely cooled - this can be up to two hours after initial heating. The temperature of the wheat bag continues to increase for 3-5 minutes following being heated in a microwave
  • Do not leave the microwave unattended when heating your wheat bag
  • Do not store the wheat bag until it is cold
  • Do not use the bag if you observe any problems
  • Do not heat under a grill or using a direct flame
  • Do not allow the wheat bag to dry out as it could burn

Wheat bags are filled with organic British wheat. They are a natural product and may feel damp when first heated. Please ensure you frequently rehydrate the wheat bag by placing a small cup of water on the microwave turntable, next to the wheat bag and always heat for the recommended time.

Washing Your Wheat Bag

  • The cover of your wheat bag can be removed for washing. Was in the machine at 30° or was by hand
  • Avoid tumble drying or ironing directly onto the handprinted design
  • Do not was the calico lining containing the wheat
